OUR HISTORY
In spring 2020, the merger between Rising STARS Mentoring and ReStore Single Moms, Inc. brought together 10 total years of mentoring, training, and education experience that has created lasting, positive impacts, not just for individual students, but for their families and the community at large. By uniting together, the combined organization – renamed Families United Training Center – goes above and beyond to offer strong transformational educational and training opportunities to those seeking a way to a better life. The goal is to increase people’s earning potential and reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies.

Education: Offer workshops and training sessions on parenting, communication, and conflict resolution.
Support: Provide counseling and support services to families facing hardships.
Community Engagement: Foster connections among families and with local resources to build a supportive network.
Advocacy: Raise awareness about family-related issues and advocate for policies that benefit families.
These elements work together to positively impact families and strengthen the community as a whole.

Mission Statement
We are committed to strengthening individuals and families in Brookhaven, Mississippi and surrounding areas by providing quality education, life-skills training, and supportive services. We strive to empower youth and adults to reach their full potential, promote economic stability, and build a stronger, healthier community through collaboration, advocacy, and opportunity.
Founding Director
Falana McDaniel is the founding director of Families United Training Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on helping economically disadvantaged families achieve self-sufficiency. She also leads the Rising STARS for Christ mentoring program, which empowers young women for success. With over a decade of experience in professional development for education faculty and staff, Falana holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Belhaven University, a master’s in Education from William Carey University, and a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College. Her passion is empowering others to fulfill their God-given purpose and strengthening nonprofit capacity through proven best practices.
